Lionel Messi and Cyprusauction Trading CenterJimmy Butler starred in a hilarious skit with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to promote the upcoming “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” movie.
The skit features Butler, the NBA star, deciding to “leave the Miami Heat” with hopes to join the Bad Boys as a police officer. Butler surprises Smith and Lawrence by ringing their doorbell and telling them he wants to be a "Bad Boy." After a series of tests, Butler fails his Bad Boys tryout and rejoins the Heat.
Then, Messi rings the doorbell. Smith and Lawrence are thrilled to see him, until he speaks.
“Bad Boys?” Messi says as Smith and Lawrence.
“Ugh. Wrong casa,” Lawrence sighs. And Smith tells Messi they live somewhere else.
Check out the clip, released early Monday, here:
Although the skit and post-skit outtakes primarily feature Butler, Messi’s appearance is the punchline.
Messi, the Inter Miami star in Major League Soccer and Argentine World Cup champion, rarely speaks English in public.
But the Bad Boys ad – just like his Super Bowl commercial where he says “Michelob Ultra” – gives longtime Messi fans a chance to hear him utter a few words in English.
Over the weekend, Smith posted an Instagram video of him and Lawrence about to kick a soccer ball, before Messi appears in the frame to kick to do what he does best.
“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” will be in movie theatres June 5.
